The cooperative winery at Colares was founded in 1931. It congregates today more than 50% of the total production, with an important social role in the region. The importance of protecting and preserving the Colares wine culture, its unique varieties is crucial. The Malvasia de Colares, a noble and indigenous grape of the region, is planted in “pé franco” on the characteristic sandy soils, free of phylloxera, less than 1 km from the Atlantic and at an average height of 110 m, is the heart of this great White.
